Dr. Jotie Saini has formal education and post-doctoral training in Biomedical Engineering and Drug Delivery. She spent several years working in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and later, skincare development, which prepared her for her role here at Lancôme.
At Lancôme, Dr. Jotie is involved in the entire product journey – from working with the labs during development and testing, to communicating product science and innovation with internal teams at Lancôme, and with you, our customers. She also works with Lancôme’s expert Beauty Advisors to lend her scientific expertise while helping educate on the unique innovations of our formulas.
In what ways does Lancôme pioneer skincare innovation?
At Lancôme, our innovation starts at the ingredient level. Before we decide to add a skincare ingredient into a product, it goes through years of research to validate its efficacy and safety. We also collaborate with scientists and dermatologists at universities and institutions across the world to enhance our scientific prowess and stay ahead of new technological advances. Each product is meticulously designed and rigorously tested for efficacy and safety. We are deeply committed to eco-conscious research and the development of our products and packaging.
Can you share a memorable moment from your career?
Visiting Lancôme’s Domaine de la Rose in Grasse was a truly memorable moment. Being there made me feel proud to work for a brand that not only goes above and beyond to source the most innovative and potent natural ingredients for its products, but also lends a hand to help conserve our environment.
What are some of your favorite ingredients and why?
Vitamin C, E, and Ferulic Acid as they protect your skin from free radicals and keep it looking bright. Niacinamide for skin tone evenness, PHAs for gentle exfoliation, hyaluronic acid for hydration, and retinol and peptides for anti-aging.
Are there any skincare myths you want to bust?
• Natural doesn’t always mean good or safe. Many synthetic ingredients are made for safety and potency.
• Having a certain ingredient in a formula doesn’t mean it will perform as expected. Formulation is the art and science of making all the ingredients work together. Always look at the clinical results of the product to see what it can do for you.
• Just because it’s cold and cloudy, doesn’t mean you should skip SPF. All skin tones need SPF, even on cloudy and wintry days. Always protect your skin from photodamage.
What is your philosophy on beauty?
Beauty rituals can be therapeutic. Take a moment with your skincare or makeup routine, be with yourself and feel empowered – you deserve it!
