How to Apply Concealer
Should you apply concealer before foundation or after?
When and where to apply concealer in your makeup routine is a commonly asked question for many. Should you apply concealer before foundation? After foundation? After moisturizer? Everyone has their own preference but for best results it’s recommended to apply your concealer after applying foundation. By applying concealer after your foundation you will be able to see exactly where extra coverage is needed without having to apply as much concealer. This is especially true for foundations like Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour Longwear Foundation which provides 24 hours of full coverage (and teams perfectly with Teint Idole All Over Concealer)
For days when you just don’t feel like wearing foundation you may like to just wear concealer. Try applying concealer over primed and moisturized bare skin for quick targeted concealing on any areas where full coverage is needed (like dark circles and redness or that pesky breakout)
Concealer to Cover and Correct:
After applying foundation use the ultra-precise flexible applicator wand to apply targeted coverage onto blemishes discoloration dark spots and redness. Gently tap and blend with your finger to seamlessly blend or use a concealer brush to gently press the concealer into the skin and gently blend the edges for a flawless finish. Choose a shade that matches your base skin tone.
Concealer to Conceal and Highlight:
For a brightening and highlighting effect apply a concealer one shade lighter than your base skin tone over the under eye area to conceal and brighten dark circles. Use the warmth of your fingertips to gently tap press and blend the product into the skin.
For an added highlighting effect apply the same shade on the center of the forehead down the center of the nose and on the cupid's bow and top of the chin to highlight the high points of the face. Use your fingertips to blend.
Concealer to Contour:
After applying foundation select a concealer shade 2-3 shades deeper than your base skin tone. Using the precision applicator apply 1-2 dots of product underneath the cheekbones down the sides of the nose around the jawline and around the forehead/temples.
Use your fingertips to gently tap and blend the product or use a contour blending buffing brush in small circular motions to buff and blend the product into the skin for an airbrush finish.
Top Concealer Tips:
• Create the illusion of a mini “face lift” (as seen on TikTok) using a slightly lighter shade of concealer than your natural skin tone. Apply concealer around the eyes (the outer corner of the eyes, the inner corner and on any dark circles), the outer corners of the mouth and the bottom corners of the nose in an upward motion and blend with a sponge.
• Use the targeted applicator to apply concealer on the under eye area after applying eye makeup to clean up any eyeshadow fallout.
• Wipe off any excess product and using the targeted flexible applicator apply concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone around the outside of your lips after applying lipstick. This will help clean up any mistakes and make the lips look larger.
• Apply a small amount of pale concealer to the eyelids prior to applying eyeshadow to prep the eyelids for total color intensity.
• Smooth and hydrate underneath the eye area before applying concealer with Advanced Génifique Hydrating Eye Cream (learn more about the importance of hydrating the under eye area)
