The Smokey Chic Makeup Look

To celebrate Emma joining Lancome Global Creative Director of Lancôme Makeup, Lisa Eldridge created this Smokey Chic Makeup Look that brings together elements of sophistication and grunge. Lisa describes this look as a '90s throwback' smokey eye. Emma describes the look as grungey and 'perfectly imperfect.' Part of its beauty is the undone-ness. It’s like a 'lived-in' smokey eye.

Steps on How to Create the “Lived-In” Smokey Eye

Step 1: Start by applying eyeliner with Drama-Liqui Pencil in 'Cafe Noir'. Apply the eyeliner as close as possible to the lash line and use the tip of the pencil to massage the liner into the roots.

Step 2: Using a brush, smudge the Drama-Liqui Pencil across the eyelid to create the smokey grunge look and a 'lived-in' smokey eye style.

Step 3: Apply the Hypnôse Eyeshadow Palette in 'Smokey Chic' to the eyelids. Use a mixture of shades to create a smokey effect and use the darkest shade on top of the eyeliner to enhance the grungy look. Make sure to also blend along the lower lashline.

Step 4: Finish with Monsieur Big Volume Mascara in black to add drama and volume to your lashes. Wiggle the wand at the roots of the lashes to enhance the smokey effect. For added drama use a mascara primer like Cils Booster XL Lash Primer.

For the rest of the makeup – keep blush light and opt for a nude lipstick shade to keep the grunge eye makeup the focus of the look.
