This is a favorite make-up product of makeup artists: it is an active water used prior to and after make-up application:
Before: To Prepare the skin for make-up: it refines pores and smoothes the skin. It also moisturizes and revitalizes for radiant, glowing skin.
After: It provides a natural dewy finish and keeps the complexion looking flawless and invisible with long-lasting results. It also provides continuous protection for make-up and skin to create an imperceptible colorless shield provided by active hydrating ingredients.

I am so glad Lancôme finally put out a finishing spray like this... and even better it can be used both before and after makeup application or even at the 3 0clock run down time most of us experience in the middle of the day. It feels great on the skin and I really can tell a difference in the way my makeup both looks and stays on when I use Dewy Mist. It feels super refreshing. I say give it a try! Just like the other Lancôme products, you'll be hooked! 2/3/13

I wouldn't replace La Base with this. Think of it as a quick, light moisturizer to go under or over your makeup. La Base will do a better job of disguising wrinkles, keeping your foundation smooth, and maximizing the affect of your makeup. This product would be lovely for people that are reluctant to use a moisturizer under their makeup or have oily skin since it's so light.

La Base Pro is a primer for makeup. It is used before application. The Dewy Mist is a finishing/setting mist used for after all makeup application is completed. It can also be used through out the day as a freshener. Making makeup look as if it has just been applied. It has wonderful plant extracts that leave your skin very refreshed as well.

Dewy Mist is a skin revitalizer & refresher. La Base is a primer. If you choose to use both, I would use the Dewy Mist first & then the La Base because it is a pre-makeup primer. You could, also, use the Dewy Mist after you apply your makeup to set it.
