The full size is 0.50. Each one in here is the sample size of 0.33. Therefore, these are 0.17 or 34% smaller. You are getting 0.33x5=1.65 of product in 5 colors for less than you would pay for .50x2=1.0 in 2 colors.

The deluxe sample size of 0.33, which is what these are is always printed in white while the full size of 0.5 is printed in gold. Yes, as the responder below mentioned, it makes them easier to identify in the picture. Since some samples look the same as the full size product in pictures, my guess would be that Lancôme saves money by printing the samples in white with more basic font type and no extra pictures. The company is so generous with its samples already, so if they can save a little on more simple packaging, I think it is a good idea. After all, we do not really need the pretty packaging to tell whether or not we like a product. The pretty packaging on the full size products compliments the brand, so the company goes all out if you are shelling out full price.

That said, getting 5 different colors of 0.33 each or 1.65 is a fantastic deal, since you would pay more than that for 2 colors or 1.0 of the full size product. For that deal, I have no problem accepting the simpler package.
