Make like Caroline… On long haul flights

“Even though I’ve been traveling year round for a long time, it’s taken me a while to actually create a beauty routine that works for air travel. I think I wanted to prove to myself that my life was too exciting for routines by purposefully forgetting to do things that would do me good. But, while a rumpled look may appear kind of sexy at 20, it doesn’t anymore and I have no other choice than to look after myself all the time.

The first step to my airplane routine: head straight to the tiny toilets to slip on a pair of pharmacy-bought compression socks. They’re a must for preventing heavy, swollen legs and feet on arrival (make sure to choose a thigh-high design). Then, I slip on a pair of headphones to make it known to my neighbor that I’m counting on sleeping throughout the flight.

Next, I apply a thick layer of Rénergie Multilift moisturizing cream to counteract the dry air in the plane. Once I’ve put on a little Nutrix lip balm, I dive into a good book - something classic that challenges me and helps me get to sleep. Right now I try to avoid films because they keep me awake. I know it’s a good opportunity to catch up on movies I haven’t had the chance to see, but sleep is the key to feeling good on arrival, not to mention combatting jet lag.” Caroline de Maigret
