Introducing Magnifique

Introducing Magnifique Starring Anne Hathaway

Lancôme is proud to present Magnifique, the beautiful new fragrance inspired by the passion and intensity of the color red. First there is the scent itself, a woody-floral created by Jacques Cavallier and Oliver Cresp, world class perfumers renowned in fragrance circles for their masterful creations. The notes of rose and saffron chosen by the perfumers are set alight by nagarmota, a unique ingredient they found during their travels in India. "We wanted to reinvent a uniquely special kind of rose, one that links up with tradition, but embodies today's femininity," explained Cavallier. "An original and highly crafted signature."

Then there is the bottle, a faceted, ruby-red crystal cylinder that glows from within. It is the creation of H5, a team of graphic artists based in France. They have succeeded in creating a home for Magnifique that pulses with both energy and elegance.

Lastly, there is the ambassador of Magnifique—Anne Hathaway, who personifies the scent in every way. Anne brings emotion and humanity to each role she plays, whether dramatic or comedic, and in her latest star turn with Lancôme she brings that same sparkle and sensitivity. Discover for yourself what is so unique and magnifique about Anne and the newest fragrance from Lancôme.

Our Favorite Song of the Summer?

Our Favorite Song of the Summer? The winner is “Everybody,” from CoolOutrageousLoversofUniquelyRawStyle (C.O.L.O.U.R.S.), the music project from Fonzworth Bentley. Best known as the “first gentleman of hip-hop,” Fonzworth enlisted his friends André 3000 and Kanye West to sing on the track and star in the video. That’s enough reason to love it, but we have another. The lyrics! In particular, the one that goes, “Like Lancôme lipstick, scarlet/And frankly, I really do care, my dear.” So put on your L’Absolu Rouge (we suggest the very scarlet Absolute Rouge) and get to iTunes to download the song and video.

Lancôme Loves: Alexis Mabille

One of the standout shows during the recent couture presentations in Paris was undoubtedly Alexis Mabille’s. This young designer is one of the most exciting talents around and one of the most charming hommes in Paris (and did we mention his fabulous hair?). We’re especially fond of Alexis because he’s helped designed some of Lancôme’s most playful products ever, like Spring 2007’s Pop Cherub Palette and Fall 2007’s Destiny Cube. He’s definitely one to watch.

Catching up with Daria

Supermodel and Lancôme spokesmodel Daria Werbowy is everywhere these days. You can’t miss her in the sexy ads for H&M and David Yurman and she’s featured on one of the year’s most eye-catching covers—W’s July issue with fellow models Kate Moss and Lara Stone. The steamy portfolio inside was shot by Bruce Weber and follows the group, along with some of today’s hottest young designers, around Miami. Then, in the August issue of Glamour magazine, Daria shares her personal photos and beauty secrets. (Her fave Lancôme product? Secret de Vie Eye Cream.) Make sure to check it out.

Can You C’est Magnifique?

Anne Hathaway certainly can. The “Get Smart” star and Lancôme ambassador was feted at the Grand Palais in Paris recently for the launch of Magnifique, the sexy new woody-floral. Anne made her entrance wearing a strapless gown by Kaufman Franco, jewels by Boucheron and Virtuôse mascara. She and the guests were entertained by The Brand New Heavies, who performed the Cole Porter classic, “C’est Magnifique.” Their modern update of the song can be heard in the commercial starring Anne and shot by famed photographer Peter Lindbergh that debuts this August.

Who’s the New Makeup Guru?

Aaron de Mey has joined the Lancôme team as artistic director for makeup. Born in New Zealand and based in New York, Aaron is a top editorial makeup artist and a fashion editor favorite. Aaron’s work can be seen in the pages of American Vogue, French Vogue and V and on the catwalks of Europe. Most recently, he did the makeup for the Fall 2008 Givenchy and Comme des Garçons shows in Paris. His first products for Lancôme—a lipstick and a lip gloss—will debut in the fall. Stay tuned for details.

Beauty Tip: Dirty Brushes—A Big Don’t!

Have you ever applied your makeup and found that your brush budges and doesn’t glide nicely? That could be a sign that your brush is dirty. “You should never use brushes caked with makeup,” says Lancôme makeup artist Robert Cook. “Your makeup won’t go on beautifully and it’s not good for your complexion.” Do as Robert does and clean your brushes regularly with a gentle shampoo or soapy facial cleanser. Brushes used to apply creamy products need to be washed more frequently than those used with powdery ones.

“Update your brushes”

Lancôme Loves: The Sephora Beauty Book

Beauty junkies take note. If you’re a fan of how-to books, you’ll love Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority.
